Human Subjects CITI Training
The Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI Program)Ìýis an online training platformÌýwhere 91¶ÌÊÓƵ Boulder staffÌýcan access variousÌýresearch complianceÌýcourses. 91¶ÌÊÓƵ Boulder requires all researchers involved inÌýhuman subject research to complete and obtain training withÌýa minimum passing score of 80%Ìýon theÌýCITIÌýHuman SubjectsÌýResearch course appropriate to their field of study.Ìý
Renewal & Expiration
Human SubjectsÌýCITI training is valid for 3 years after completion. Researchers must complete and pass theÌýCITI Human SubjectsÌýResearch refresherÌýcourse every three years.¸é±ð²õ±ð²¹°ù³¦³ó±ð°ù²õÌýwill receive a reminder from CITI to complete the refresher courseÌýevery 90, 30, and 7 days prior to ³Ù³ó±ð¾±°ùÌýtraining expiration. One final reminder will be sent ²¹´Ú³Ù±ð°ùÌý a researcher’sÌýcertification expires. It is the researcher’sÌýresponsibility to keep CITI trainings current.
All human subject protocolÌýsubmissions will be returned without review if any key personnel (e.g. principal investigator, co-investigators, faculty advisor, etc.) on a study does not have a valid training status.

- CITIÌýHuman Subjects Research course:ÌýBiomedical Research Investigators and Key Personnel
- CITI Human Subjects Research course:ÌýSocial Behavioral Research Investigators and Key Personnel

*Note: Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) Training in CITI is a separate course and training requirement. RCR training does not satisfy the requirement for completing the appropriate Human Subjects Trainings listed above.
