In 1912 students presented George Norlin, professor and Greek department chair, with a pocket watch for significant contributions to the 91Ƶ sports program. As Athletic Board chair, he instilled the athletic philosophy of “a spirit of mutual trust, friendly rivalry and true sportsmanship” into the region’s intercollegiate athletics programs.
